The mandate of IPCI is to make a positive impact into the lives of African-American students by providing the resources necessary to maximize their educational pursuits through scholarship, leadership development and financial education. To achieve this, our primary initiative is the Future African-American Leaders of Economic Influence Financial Education Scholarship (“FAALEI”).
The FAALEI Financial Education Scholarship was created in the spring of 2006 to financially support the dreams and collegiate aspirations of African-American high schools seniors in the Dallas / Ft. Worth metroplex. In addition to offsetting the financial costs of post-secondary education, through this scholarship program, IPCI hopes to enhance and support African-American students’ knowledge and comfort with financial management responsibilities before entering the collegiate realm. These responsibilities include:
- Understanding the basics of credit card management
- Knowing the benefits of investing early
- Learning how to make responsible financial decisions as a young adult
- Getting comfortable with the workings of the stock market, and
- Other financially related responsibilities of college students
