Ms. Miakka Smith was the winner for the 2007 Future African-American Leaders of Economic Influence Financial Education Scholarship. Miakka is currently a student at the University of North Texas majoring in Biology, on a pre-med track. She as aspirations to become a doctor, and has been inspired to pursue the medical profession since she was a young girl. Miakka was actively involved at James Bowie High School and in her community in Arlington, TX. Miakka proudly accepted her diploma ranked number seven overall and number one among African-American students in her graduating class.


On May 19, 2006, Ms. Tajah Ross of Dallas, TX was awarded the very first Future African-American Leaders of Economic Influence Financial Education Scholarship. Ms. Tajah Ross is currently a student at Boston University, and is majoring in Entrepreneurship. Tajah has aspirations to one day open up her on business and continue to express her talents and passions in the performing arts. She is a gifted singer and hopes to inspire those in her community to reach for their goals and aspirations, no matter how big or small they may seem. Tajah proudly accepts her certificate at the annual Booker T. Washington awards ceremony in Dallas, TX.

The Inspiring Positive Change Initiative spreads the knowledge of financial literacy and student success at the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (“SBSLC”) at Texas A&M University. At the beginning of each Spring semester, approximately 800 African-American student leaders from across the nation come together for a four day conference comprising networking, career, leadership development and relationship building opportunities.

Leviathan Winn is presenting a workshop titled the “Young Mogul’s Crash Course in Six-Figure Living and Debt Free Spending” to hundreds of conference participants at SBSLC. The presentation provided students simple, yet practical strategies for financial empowerment, credit management, saving and investing.
